Concours d’élégance
Concours d’élégance
The Concours d’Elegance will include a selection of the
most esteemed Aston Martins spanning a century of the British brand’s history,
with everything from heritage cars through to the latest ultra-luxury
high performance models that Aston Martin has to offer.
The lineup of vehicles will also include unique models such as the first mid-engine hybrid Valhalla,
a replica 2023 Aston Martin Formula One® car,
the thrilling open cockpit DBR22, and the DB5 Goldfinger Continuation.
The Concours d’Elegance entrants will be examined by respected judges from Japan and
the UK who will assess the vehicles on criteria including elegance and beauty,
with an award ceremony scheduled for the morning of November 18.
Celebrating its 110th anniversary, with the appearance of Valour,
a spectacular, ultra-exclusive V12-engine, manual transmission special edition vehicle.
Concours d’élégance will be open to the public to
revel in the glory of Aston Martin’s finest sportscar.
The judges
Shiro Nakamura
Representative Director of SN DESIGN PLATFORM
President of Hollywood Hills Creative Platform LLC.
Shiro Nakamura is a graduate of Musashino Art University and the Art Center College of Design in the United States. He is a former Senior Vice President and Chief Creative Officer of Nissan Motor Corporation. After leaving Nissan in 2017, he founded studios in Hollywood, Los Angeles in 2018 and Daikanyama, Tokyo in 2020, where he conducts global design activities focusing on automobiles.
He is a winner of many prestigious awards conferred upon globally celebrated designers, including the Eyes On design Life Time Achievement (United States) and the Grand Prix du Design (France).
He has also served as a judge at classic car competitions such as the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in the United States and the Villa d’Este in Italy.
Kiyoyuki Ken Okuyama
1959年 山形市生まれ。
ゼネラルモーターズ社(米)チーフデザイナー、ポルシェ社(独)、シニアデザイナー、ピニンファリーナ社(伊)デザインディレクター、アートセンターカレッジオブデザイン(米)工業デザイン学部長を歴任。フェラーリ・エンツォ、マセラティ・クアトロポルテなどの自動車やドゥカティなどのオートバイ、鉄道、船舶、建築、ロボット、テーマパーク等数多くのデザインを手がける。2007年よりKEN OKUYAMA DESIGN 代表として、山形・東京・ロサンゼルスを拠点に、企業コンサルティング業務のほか、KEN OKUYAMAブランドで自動車・インテリアプロダクト・眼鏡の開発から販売までを行う。
2019年『ビジネスの武器としての「デザイン」』(祥伝社)をはじめ、『フェラーリと鉄瓶』(PHP出版社)、『伝統の逆襲』(祥伝社)、『人生を決めた15分創造1/10000』(KEN OKUYAMA DESIGN) など著作。
Shiro Horie
Representative Director of SHIRO Co., Ltd.
Shiro is Editor-in-Chief of Octane Magazine Japan, a Tokyo based journalist who travels worldwide covering new car launches and classic car events.
He has expertise in automotive technology, high-end watches, men’s lifestyle and travels.
He is a member of Classic Car Club of Japan, which is the oldest and prestigious automobile club in Japan. Former Deputy executive committee chair Car of the Year Japan.
Steve Waddingham
Bio for Steve Waddingham, Historian for Aston Martin Lagonda Ltd
Steve Waddingham is the company Historian for Aston Martin Lagonda Ltd. Steve first joined AML in 1990. His AML career started in the Parts business before moving on into a variety of other roles within the company, in particular his role as part of the factory tour team, assisting owners and new car purchasers. In total Steve completed over 5,000 factory tour visits, before moving into the role of Historian in 2020.
During his career with AML Steve has worked on a number of car launches and in many cases has seen models from launch to becoming historic cars in their own right. This gives him a rather unique viewpoint of the company history, having played a part in over three decades of it.
Steve is a lifelong classic car enthusiast having owned a number of British classics and serving on car club committees. He supports a number of museums and societies and having been an advisor to the Aston Martin Heritage Trust was made a Trustee in 2023. Steve was awarded the Viscount Downe Memorial Aston Martin Heritage Award in 2019, by the Aston Martin Owners Club.’
Garry Taylor
Appointed as the Aston Martin Heritage Trust (AMHT) Treasurer in 2019, Garry now also serves as the Operations Trustee.
An unapologetic car enthusiast from boyhood, Garry has always admired Aston Martins. He has owned and enjoyed several models over the years, including a DB7 Vantage, V8 Vantage, V8 Vantage S AMR, DB6 Vantage and a Cygnet.
As a regular attendee at European motor shows, Garry interviewed Aston Martin executives and CEOs for car magazines and the Aston Martin Owners Club. He still contributes to the annual award-winning AMHT magazine, ASTON.
Recently, Garry added podcasting to his remit as he founded the only podcast dedicated to Aston Martin. The Aston Martin Heritage Podcast delves into the heritage of Aston Martin cars, people and stories behind the iconic brand.
A keen organiser, Garry has managed numerous car tours and events in the UK, most recently the Aston Martin Heritage Trust Festival in August 2023.
With a passion for motoring history, Garry is never happier than when meeting other Aston Martin enthusiasts and their beautiful cars. He is honoured to be a judge at ARCADIA.
